Out in nature with a huntress
“Today is the best school day of the week,” we were told yesterday, and we really did have a lot of fun. Two Year 2 classes got to take a closer look at the HEDGEROW HABITAT.
Which animals live there, and which plants can you find in a hedgerow?
Which of those lovely, colourful fruits can you eat, and which are poisonous?
The children explored all of this with Susanne and Jessi on Wednesday in the covered playground because of the rain, and on Thursday in glorious sunshine in the school grounds.
The children showed how much they already knew in a little quiz, and the classes worked together to create a colourful hedgerow for their classroom.
To finish, they got to try elderberry and elderflower jelly. The delicious bread was donated to us—many thanks for your support, @baeckerei_plank 🙏🏻 💛
The huntresses had also brought along rosehip, sloe and elderberry juice, so the lessons out in nature ended with a proper hedgerow breakfast.
