Trophy exhibition & assessment

For the lower hunting authority: bringing trophies together, assessing and awarding prizes.

Game · Conservation · Community

A shared look at wildlife and game management.

Jägerverein Berching-Dietfurt e.V. organises the trophy exhibition for the lower hunting authority in our area. We also assess the trophies and award prizes.

Careful preparation is needed, from assigning the individual trophies to presenting them. The exhibition brings together trophies from the hunting grounds and provides a setting for professional exchange within the hunting community.

Wildlife and habitat

What trophies tell us about our hoofed game.

Trophies are an important part of how we assess the development of our native deer and other wild ungulates. Their characteristics are assessed in relation to age, physical condition and habitat conditions.

How much forage is available? Does game have enough peace and cover? How well do game density and habitat fit together? These questions are part of taking a shared look at the hunting grounds. A trophy alone does not provide a reliable indication of game density or the health of an entire population. A more meaningful picture emerges only when it is considered alongside other observations, game meat weights and bag data.

Everyone is welcome

Open to the public, informative and conversational.

The trophy exhibition is a public event. Everyone is welcome to see for themselves our local wild ungulates and the work carried out in the hunting areas. You do not need to know anything about hunting.

The exhibition offers an opportunity to ask questions, compare differences and talk to hunters. We publish the date and venue in the association calendar.

Binding template and careful cross-check.

In Bavaria, holders of hunting grounds are generally required to present the antlers or other headgear of all hoofed game that was shot or found dead in their hunting ground during the previous hunting year. The hunting authority determines the time and format of the public game management display; in justified individual cases, it may grant an exemption from the presentation requirement.

We welcome this legal obligation. It provides a shared and verifiable basis. In our assessment, we also compare the trophies submitted with the game bag records, checking that they correspond to the animals reported.
