Vitus S. is currently Bavaria’s youngest hunter. His grandfather is a hunter, and his father and uncle are hunters too, so it was almost certain that Vitus would follow in their footsteps. The 15-year-old pupil successfully completed his hunting training in September and now has to wait until he celebrates his 16th birthday. He can then obtain a youth hunting licence and go hunting accompanied by an adult.
He was involved from a young age, and even at 8 years old he had no qualms about retrieving the hare that had been shot (picture 2), under the supervision of Nele, a female German Shorthaired Pointer.
Vitus had already passed his fishing exam at 12, and when he did not accompany his father hunting, the two could be found fishing together by the water.
Congratulations on passing your hunting exams, and we wish you every success in the field. Vitus, would you like to spend a rich and fulfilling life as a hunter, carrying your rifle and shotgun as an ethical hunter and protector of our wildlife?
