The fatal shooting of two Neumarkt District Office employees during a firearms inspection in Berngau on 8 October 2026 has deeply shaken us. Two people lost their lives while carrying out their work. Our heartfelt sympathies go to their families, loved ones, friends and colleagues.
Jägerverein Berching-Dietfurt e.V. condemns this act in the strongest possible terms. The suspected perpetrator was not a member of our association. We expressly distance ourselves from him and his actions. There is no justification for this violence. It is fundamentally at odds with the values we stand for as an association.
Responsible handling of firearms, respect for human life and respect for the people who carry out official duties are indispensable to us. Anyone who owns firearms has a particular responsibility. Official inspections must be possible safely and without fear of violence.
In silent remembrance, we stand alongside the bereaved. Our thanks go to the emergency services personnel who carried out their duties in difficult conditions.
