AH – Armbruster, of course!
Another special distinction that a hunting dog and its handler can earn together.
The badge is named after US soldier Lenard F. Armbruster, who was stationed in Germany for a long time and was a Wirehaired Pointer breeder and performance judge for the Jagdgebrauchshundeverband.
The dog needs an absolute desire to retrieve game and follow a scent, but must also obey its handler without question. The certificate is awarded to teams if, during a Verband examination, the dog can be stopped at every hare and later performs good scent work on the same hare track. The aim is to have a completely obedient dog that still retains its prey drive.
HALT! This is often practised by us using the DOWN command (clearly visible in picture 3), also in connection with the trill and hand signal. The dog must drop instantly and lower its head (between its forelegs), so that it stops chasing the game.
The pictures show Sinja (call name Sira) @ddvombauckhof
The bitch and her handler @drahthaarmaedchen showed that they work perfectly as a team during the HZP (autumn breed test), when a hare rose 3 m in front of Sira. Sira lay down at the trill and later worked the same hare track as required. They were thus awarded the Armbruster Halt certificate. Congratulations, HoRüdHo and Waidmannsheil 🌿
